Field of Book Pins

This gives a close-up view of the Book Pins to show their foldformed spines. Book pins are hand formed by hammering, and held together entirely by being hammered into shape.

A whole batch of book pins has just been finished and is set out to be lacquered here.

Foldformed ‘trilobite’

Trilobite_-_dscn3311

Another experiment with the ‘spine’ foldform style. I knew when I started this that it would end up looking like a trilobite, but I didn’t let that stop me, despite our usual avoidance of representational work. The folding reduces the length of this piece by nearly two thirds. The resulting piece is about 8″x10″, and hangs either vertically or horizontally. It will be hard to make larger versions of this style for larger wall hangings until we build specialized tools to make them.

Another take on the new bracelet style

Here’s my version. There is a little bit of silver flowed along the longitudinal ridge. It is oxidized grey for the most part, but minimally polished at the peak of the ridge.

New foldformed bracelet styles

We don’t have a name for this style yet. David came up with this one a few days ago. My variant on it will follow soon.

spine belt buckle

Here is the foldform design we call Spine, made into a brass belt buckle. David has made buckles for decades, and they are still sold through a small group of leatherworkers in different parts of the country. This is the first regular buckle design contributed by Reed.

Rumple earrings in Silver

Silver-rumple-small-wsc

A pair of foldformed earrings in the style we call ‘rumple’. Most of our foldformed jewelry is made in copper, but these are Argentium sterling. They will coordinate well with the silver spine bracelet, pictures of which will be coming soon.

Reversible foldformed ‘spine’ pendant

We’re working on foldformed jewelry, completing some coordinating sets
that we can produce as regular items in our line. Here’s a prototype of
a pendant, in the ‘spine’ style Reed first made as a bracelet. This one looks great from both sides, so we made it reversible
