Fireplace wall sketches for T.L.

These are some ideas based on old sketches.

1. This a piece I designed based on RCB 10.01. I don't think it fits your space or ideas, but I thought I'd include it to show you how variant designs can work.

2. Another design I have had around for some time which might be of interest.

3. This one is a whole different style, and I include it because it's a design I've long wanted to build. It is likely to be quite expensive, heavy, and relatively deep. The thick orthogonal lines are fairly thick bars of stainless steel or brass (or possibly copper, I suppose).

4. Another old design which may fit your thinking.

And some first new ideas, rather scattershot for the moment, and very sketchy, to get an idea what direction we want to go in.

5. Simpler, very preliminary.
6. All curves.

7a. Relatively simple but it might get some more layering at the piece edges.

7b. I really can't decide which way is up on this one, and would probably make it so it can hang any direction so you can decide, or even change your mind.

8. This is the first full design in response to your original query that I really liked. The criss-crossed part is intended to be folded copper, like the panels shown at right.

We call this style of foldforming Creaseforming. The color is from the heat involved in the foldforming process.

9. This one has something closer to representation in it.

10. Thinking about that creaseformed part in RCB 10.01 (Yes, this style also fits within what we call Creaseforming, but it's all one direction of fold, rather than both sides, so it's sort of embossed or low relief, rather than having a more dimensional feel.

11. A simpler sketch including a part like the creaseform inset in #8 above.

12. And a riff on RCB 10.01 and #1 above.
